Established in 1965 as the U.S. Tennis Court & Track Builders Association, the organization was created to help contractors address shared challenges, establish consistent benchmarks and stay informed on evolving industry conditions. Its 2004 name change reflects an expanded scope that now encompasses the full range of sports facility construction.

About the American Sports Builders Association (ASBA) 

The ASBA is a non-profit association comprised of designers, builders and suppliers in sports facility construction. The ASBA sponsors informative meetings, publishes a quarterly magazine, books and technical construction guidelines for athletic facilities, produces a mobile app containing diagrams of sports facilities and keeps its members aware of the latest developments in the industry. Additionally, ASBA offers voluntary certification programs in tennis court, running track and sports field construction, as well as a certificate program in pickleball court construction.
