The Davis Memorial Foundation is operated under the auspices of the Western States Roofing Contractors Association

Larry and Mary Davis personified the heart and spirit of the roofing industry community. Committed to supporting the professional standing of roofing contractors, Larry promoted high standards and believed that a well-educated membership was key to the industry's future success. Founder of State Roofing Company in Modesto, California, Larry served as a director on the Western States RCA Board of Directors and was active on several committees, often flying to meetings with his wife Mary in their private airplane. They perished in a plane crash in 1995 when they were returning from a committee meeting. The Foundation was created in their honor.

Addressing burnout and stress through coaching is more than a trend — it is a critical strategy for sustainable growth.

Burnout and stress are no longer a personal issue, they are now major challenges for organizations. They hurt performance, productivity and revenue. A Gallup survey found that 76% of employees experience “at least sometimes” burn out at work. Almost 28% feel burned out "very often" or "always." These figures show an urgent need for better ways to cope with workplace stress and burnout.

The impact of burnout and ‘productivity anxiety’ on work performance and revenue

Burnout and stress harm employees' mental and physical health. This, in turn, can greatly reduce their work performance. Studies have shown that burnout leads to a 50% increase in voluntary turnover and can cause a 20-40% decrease in overall productivity. These effects cause financial losses. According to the American Institute of Stress, companies spend over $300 billion a year on stress-related healthcare and lost productivity. They also found that workplace stress causes one million employees to miss work every day. Absenteeism and presenteeism (employees are at work but disengaged) cause huge revenue losses that can seriously hurt a company's bottom line.

Additionally, a Workhuman survey of 1,000 full-time employees shows a rising "productivity anxiety." It found that 80% of U.S. workers feel it and over a third experience it multiple times a week. This anxiety is especially prevalent among Gen Z employees, with 30% experiencing it daily and 58% facing it multiple times a week. Despite 61% of workers claiming that they are productive, this productivity often comes at the cost of increased anxiety and stress. Factors such as meeting deadlines are the primary indicator of having a "good day" (68%), while making mistakes tops the list for a "bad day" at work (49%).

Together, these findings illustrate the dual impact of burnout and productivity anxiety, both of which detrimentally affect employee well-being and organizational performance, highlighting the need for effective interventions to foster a healthier, more sustainable work environment.

This exclusive forum focuses on company culture and facilitates networking through quarterly sessions. The R-Club Culture Peer Forum was created to foster discussions around the importance of workplace communication. Topics of discussion include creating a positive work environment, adapting to digital communication methods, finding common ground among diverse groups, constructive feedback methods and more. The upcoming Peer Forum will particularly focus on managing generation gaps and how to best bridge the divide for a more productive and positive work culture and experience.
