ASBA Workshop: Basics of Gym Floor Sanding & Repair

ASBA's Indoor Sports Surfaces Workshop Series returns this November with two back-to-back courses designed for wood gym floor professionals. Each workshop is hosted by The Ohio Floor Company at their portable warehouse facility in Holmesville, Ohio — offering a unique combination of hands-on court work and structured classroom instruction.

Participants rotate between two groups: one working hands-on on the court while the other is in the classroom. This format ensures every attendee gets full immersion in each topic. Registration is limited to a maximum of two attendees per company.

Workshop 01: Sanding & Repair (November 2–5, 2026 Holmesville, Ohio)

• How to start a sanding job, including removal of base
• Proper equipment selection and abrasive grits
• Large area and single board floor repairs
• Volleyball sleeve and electrical box installation
• Difference between sealers and finishes; oil vs. water base
• Closing out a sanding job and installing base
