How to Build a Long-lasting Network

Leap RCS Power of Networking webinar
September 14, 2022 at 6:00 p.m.

By Evelyn Witterholt.

In a recent webinar, RoofersCoffeeShop® President Heidi J. Ellsworth and COO Karen L. Edwards discuss the process of building a solid network for career success.

Now more than ever, networking is everything. And who better to shed some light on the best practices of networking than RoofersCoffeeShop® (RCS) President Heidi J. Ellsworth and COO Karen L. Edwards. The two teamed up with contractor software company, Leap, for The Power of Networking, a webinar presentation on how valuable it is to know how to network with other people and also within your company.

With decades of networking experience, Heidi and Karen shared why they think networking is one of the most beneficial skills for a person to have. They explain in the webinar that while it’s great to know how to complete roofing jobs well, knowing how to network and market your company can be difficult, but it is still a crucial skill to have at your disposal.

“In roofing, what we have found is networking is everything,” Heidi says. “If you’re a roofing contractor, know your distribution, know your manufacturers. Getting your company in front of the right people on so many different levels, it means success for your business...but not only is it success for your business, it also helps you grow your career.”

Karen attributes much of her success in the roofing industry to networking and sheds some light on the effect company networking can have too. Not only does networking create potential clients and business, but it can also help establish advocates for your business and mentors who inspire you to grow in your career.

“It’s really important to get to know your coworkers and build closer relationships...” Karen says. “You may be in a situation where you’ve joined a company and you’re working in marketing but you’re seeing excitement about what’s going on in sales...that’s when you want to reach out to someone on the sales team, spend some time with them, maybe shadow them for a day. Learn about that job and see if it’s something you might be interested in exploring.”

Over the years, Heidi and Karen have written multiple books about networking. Their most recent one, The Power of Networking, is available to purchase on Amazon.com. Harness the power of networking yourself today!

Watch the entire webinar to find out how you can build a network for you and your company.
