December 11, 2024 at 3:00 p.m.

By Emma Peterson.

It’s time to submit entries for the RCMA Project of the Year Award!

The Roof Coatings Manufacturers Association (RCMA) is looking for submissions for their Project of the Year Award program. This is a new annual competition that looks to highlight the best of the best projects that use asphaltic and solar reflective roof coatings. Open to all roofing contractors located in the United States (including Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico), this competition honors the innovation, creativity, expertise and quality of management used and employed in a successful project.

The projects can be from any type of roof — residential, commercial or industrial — as long as they feature a roof coating. Submitting your applications is free and it is encouraged to submit as many times as you like to showcase your contributions and projects! All submitted projects must have been completed between January 1, 2024 and December 31, 2024.

The competition will be judged by an independent jury of roofing professionals, who will be looking at each entry through five different criterion lenses.

  1. Innovation: Judges will evaluate the uniqueness of and creativity applied to each project.
  2. Technical excellence: They will also consider the quality and precision of the work in terms of application, adherence to industry standards and overall craftsmanship.
  3. Project complexity: Aspects like project scale, structural intricacy, site conditions and more will be accounted for when considering each project’s level of difficulty and complexity.
  4. Aesthetics/design: The visual appeal and interest of each project will also be examined. This considers things like overall design, color harmony and coating integration.
  5. Sustainability: Judges will also be paying attention to whether project demonstrates how the roof coating applied extended the life of the roof.

Winners will be announced at RCMA’s Spring Meeting on March 5, 2025 in Orlando, Florida. The deadline for submitting is February 1, 2025 and you must include all of the following documentation to be eligible:
