AI has quickly become a major segment of today’s market. TIME recently named the architects of AI as their 2025 Person of the Year, praising AI’s acceleration of medical research and productivity, as well as the fact that businesses across the world are adapting to the new technology in stride. Artificial intelligence is revolutionizing the way people work, study and learn.
With all this noise about AI, it can be hard to navigate how to best implement it into your daily business tasks. Denver Riggleman, the co-founder and CEO of Hootl (a healthcare AI model that aims to eliminate errors and reduce rework/denials), joined us for an episode of Contractor Outlook talk about the most practical uses for AI in day-to-day tasks.
The automation capabilities that Hootl brings to the healthcare industry is a prime example of how simple integrations of AI can make a business more efficient. Denver explained, “AI can be helpful when it comes to taking the human error out of simple tasks like scheduling.” One such example of simple tasks Hootl can assist with is verifying documents and information, automatically checking databases for the correct information. Even more useful, it can make a phone call if necessary to get more information. Denver shared, “This type of proactive work is where AI shines.”
How does these AI functions apply to managing a roofing business? Think about tasks like scheduling and lead follow-up – processes that can be slowed down due to human error or limitations (such as work hours). Proactive AI automation can help with all of it. Denver gave an example of what this might look like:
“If you have an AI receptionist set up, customers can call and say ‘hey, when’s the crew coming out here?’ The AI would respond, ‘We have you scheduled at 5 p.m. Are there any other questions?’ And if the caller has more questions, the AI might respond, ‘Let me know what your questions are. If I do not have an answer I can transfer you to a human operator.’ Then the caller asks and, if it’s a question you’ve programed in answer for, the AI answers immediately. There's no budding push, it's just a voice-activated module.”
Not only can this save your team time, as common questions can be answered without anyone having to stop their work to pick up the phone, but it also gives your customers better service by offering immediate answers without any hold time or missed calls.
This is just one example of how proactive AI can automate your business and boost your operations. To learn more about AI in business settings, Listen to the whole podcast or Watch the recording of the interview.
